Heavy truck accidents are common, especially when traffic slows down suddenly during rush hour or the number of lanes is reduced during construction jobs.

In this major case on a busy interstate in the center of a city, two state workers were filling potholes in the breakdown lane. When morning rush-hour traffic slowed suddenly, a garbage truck tailgating a car swerved into the breakdown lane to avoid hitting the car. The workers were thrown over the railing and onto a street below. Both died.

Our animated accident reconstruction showed that the workers were definitely in the breakdown lane when the accident happened. It also showed that the workers had no chance to escape. The situation developed too quickly; they had nowhere to go.

The case settled quite favorably soon after our computer-based case presentation was shown to the other side.
